In Lakeland, Florida, a feline named George has astounded his community by undertaking a remarkable adventure to find his way back home.

Residing at the Loma Verde complex, George is well cared for by his neighbors.

The adventure began when George was taken for a neutering procedure at the local animal shelter.

No one could have predicted the extraordinary measures he would take to return to his beloved surroundings.

After the procedure, George made a daring escape from his cage and vanished behind the facility just as a community member arrived to pick him up.

Shelter workers pulled out all the stops to locate him.

They even hoisted each other over a tall fence he had scaled, all in an effort to capture the elusive feline.

Remarkably, George managed this feat despite still having anesthesia in his system.

A few days later, George reappeared in his neighborhood, nearly three miles away from the shelter.

His owner, Bob Beasock, marveled at the journey, saying, “He had to go through two or three subdivisions, around a couple of lakes, and cross five or six roads. If I had been stuck there, I would’ve called an Uber. But, George didn’t have that option.”

Though he had shed a bit of weight, George returned in good spirits.

While George was missing, Beasock admitted, “I was distraught and heartbroken,” but he was relieved when George returned, adding, “He needed a human touch — and that’s what he got.”
