The German Shepherd dog breed is known for its loyalty and protectiveness, according to the American Kennel Club.

And thanks to these qualities, a family’s German shepherd foiled an attack by a neighbor’s dog on their 6-year-old boy.

In a social media post, Tank the dog’s owners said that their kid was just playing with their dog Tank in their front yard when a neighbor’s dog charged straight at the boy.

TikTok User@lovehenesy94 captioned the video, “Our neighbor’s dog randomly charged at my son last night & my Tanky saved him from getting mauled or worst.”

In the video clip that has already reached 26 million views, the moment that Tank saw the other dog running towards his brother, he chases the dog away from the boy.  He prevented the dog from getting near his brother.

One commenter said, “Do you believe that your dog is smart enough that it knocked your son down at the beginning to protect him? I do and it’s freaking amazinnnnnggg.”  What Tank did was indeed amazing.

But one viewer not only praised Tank for his heroic act but also another dog who also chased the neighbor’s dog away. The viewer noted, “what’s the story with the second dog he did a good job, too he ran up there to help his brother out.”

The incident also prompted one commenter to share, “My German shepherd saved me once from another dog when I was 16.”
