In a delightful twist on snack time, a golden retriever named Goose from Charleston, South Carolina, has become an internet sensation. The pup’s owner shared a video on TikTok, showing Goose’s refusal to eat chips unless accompanied by dip.

The clip, shared under the username @goose_thegolden, humorously invites viewers to “Tell me your dog is spoiled without telling me your dog is spoiled.”

This amusing incident is a testament to how much Americans adore their pets. According to Statista, spending on pets has skyrocketed from $17 billion to $147 billion over the past three decades.

With a staggering 86.9 million families owning pets, it’s no wonder that nearly all of them, about 97 percent, consider their pets as part of the family.

In fact, half of these families regard their pets as significant as any human member, as highlighted by a Pew Research Center survey.

The trend of pampering pets extends to gift-giving, with about three in ten Americans buying Christmas presents for their pets. Surprisingly, only one in ten purchase gifts for coworkers or neighbors.

Generationally, Gen Zers and millennials are more inclined to surprise their fur-babies during the festive season compared to older generations.

A YouGov survey revealed that when faced with a choice between saving a pet or a person from a sinking boat, a significant 39 percent of respondents chose their closest pet.

The video of Goose has gone viral, amassing over 4.7 million views and 529,400 likes on TikTok. Many users related to Goose’s behavior, sharing stories of their own spoiled pets.

Although the details remain unverified, Goose’s antics have certainly captured hearts online.
