Puppies are certainly masters of surprise, as demonstrated by Merc, a golden retriever puppy. He recently found a path to freedom when his owner made an innocent mistake and forgot to lock his crate while stepping out to assist her father with his business next door.

“My father runs a business next door and needed my help,” she explained. “[Merc] was just in there napping with the door open so I shut the door and didn’t remove his collar, that’s on me. He was sleeping and I knew I’d be right back.”

She was able to monitor Merc’s movement using her phone equipped with a pet camera, but the pup discovered he wasn’t as confined as he thought.

The surprising moment was captured on video and shared on TikTok, showing Merc stretching his legs and accidentally kicking the crate open. Startled by his sudden discovery, he wasted no time exploring his unattended area – his owner’s room.

“She mentioned that he always sleeps upside down and stretches. In doing so, his paws unintentionally kicked the door open.”
