Golden Retriever’s Hilarious Reaction to Owner Skipping His Beloved Treat

Quick Smiles:
- Golden retriever Maverick was unimpressed when his owner skipped his beloved pup cup.
- Emma Moriarty’s TikTok video of Maverick’s reaction went viral with over 562,000 views.
- Experts confirm dogs can’t hold grudges, so Maverick likely forgot the incident quickly.
Dogs are creatures of habit, and when their routines are disrupted, they make their feelings known. This was certainly the case for seven-month-old golden retriever Maverick, who was less than impressed when his owner, Emma Moriarty, got a coffee without him.
While dogs can’t indulge in caffeinated beverages, many coffee shops offer a special treat for our furry friends: the ‘puppuccino.’ It’s an espresso-sized cup of whipped cream just for dogs.
However, Emma, a 28-year-old from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, recently visited a coffee shop that didn’t offer this delightful doggy treat. Maverick’s reaction? Let’s just say he was not pleased.
Emma shared Maverick’s reaction on TikTok, where the video quickly went viral, amassing over 562,000 views. In the clip, Maverick refuses to look at Emma, clearly showing his disappointment.
“I made it up to him by taking him on a social trip the next day to get a pup cup first thing in the morning,” Emma said.
“I’ve learned my lesson to never go to coffee shops that don’t offer pup cups!”
Throughout the video, posted on her account @imbluethesiberiann, Maverick’s expression is captioned as the “side-eye of betrayal.” The video, uploaded on September 26, has garnered over 46,000 likes and nearly 800 comments.
“That look tells me ‘you still got YOUR coffee’… he is big mad,” joked one user.
“At this point, cafés without pup cups should be a crime,” wrote another.
“He is giving you the silent treatment. He wants you to understand what you did was wrong,” commented a third.
While TikTok users agree that Emma “messed up” by not providing for her dog, pet behavior experts have delved deeper into canine emotions.
Celebrity dog trainer Travis Brorsen explained, “People may wonder if their dog is angry at them and holding a grudge, but that’s not how dogs’ minds and emotions work. The truth is, dogs aren’t humans.”
Brorsen, host of My Big Fat Pet Makeover on Animal Planet, elaborated: “Dogs have feelings, sure,” noting that they can associate a positive or negative feeling with a person, place, or word and “remember it for a very long time.”
However, he reassured that dogs cannot hold grudges. Brorsen said dogs live in the moment, so Maverick likely forgot about the pup cup incident by the time he got home.
