  • A Good Samaritan helped rescue a puppy she found when she was taking out her trash.
  • The poor puppy was tied to the fence with a shoestring.
  • Rescuers made sure to care for the pup and shower him with love until he finds his forever family.

A woman was taking her trash out in St. Louis, Missouri, when she spotted a small puppy abandoned near the dumpster. So she called the Stray Rescue of St. Louis to ask for help.

A shelter employee, Natalie Thompson, said that the “sweet and kind” woman “sat with him until our team arrived.”

The poor puppy was shaking with fear and sadness when he was found. The rescuers named him Shoestring since he was tied to the fence with it.

The rescuers got Shoestring to a vet, fed him well, and gave him all the love he needed.

Natalie shared, “He’s a sweet older puppy, in good health. We’re not sure why he was tied up and abandoned.”

Shoestring soon realized he was safe and melted into the comfort of his recuers.

Natalie described him as a “total lovebug” who “loves other dogs and all people. He’s cuddly and kind and loves to play and wrestle.”

Their shelter is already beyond full, but a foster family volunteered to look after Shoestring until he’s neutered and ready for adoption.

Rescuers say that the perfect family for him would be one that already has a vibrant, playful canine companion for him.

Thanks to the Good Samaritan, Shoestring now has a second chance at life. Hopefully, he’ll soon meet his forever family, who will treasure him and give him all the love he deserves.
