A group of Good Samaritans in Florida are being praised by a local police department after they heroically put themselves in danger to help a woman who had a medical emergency while driving.

On May 5, while traveling through Palm Beach County, the woman had a “medical episode,” as captured on a security camera. The woman’s automobile was seen slowly creeping into an intersection, as per a video released by the Boynton Beach Police Department this week.

The woman’s coworker is then seen leaping from her own car and sprinting up to the moving vehicle, flailing her arms to signal for assistance.

Several strangers exited their vehicles and rushed over as the vehicle drifted onto the opposite side of the road. Some people even stood in front of the truck and used their strength to stop it.

According to Boynton Beach police, one woman took a dumbbell from her car, which a man used to smash the window on the rear passenger’s side. Another man then crawled through the window to unlock the passenger’s side door, and the car was pushed to a nearby 7-Eleven parking lot, where a nurse on the phone with 911 offered medical assistance until the fire department arrived.

The footage was uploaded on social media to locate the Good Samaritans.

The department added in an update that Facebook users were able to contact some of the people in the video, and they are trying to connect them with the woman they helped.

“I don’t think it’s an understatement to say that it is serving as an inspiration of goodness in our country today,” BBPD Public Information Officer Stephanie Slater said.

Davita Peele, one of the Good Samaritans who guided traffic during the incident, told WPBF she had just left work when she came upon the scene.

“I helped someone avoid getting into an even worse accident,” Peele said.
