  • Guitar Center steps up to replace instruments lost in L.A. wildfires.
  • Musicians and music programs can apply for grants up to $1,500.
  • Initiative supports the vibrant music community of Los Angeles.

In the wake of the recent wildfires that swept through Los Angeles County, Guitar Center is taking a melodious approach to aid recovery efforts.

While sports teams, celebrities, and businesses rally to restore normalcy, Guitar Center is strumming a different tune by helping musicians replace lost instruments.

The Guitar Center Music Foundation has launched an initiative inviting working musicians to apply for a one-time grant.

This grant aims to replace musical instruments and gear lost in the fires, with a value of up to $1,500.

Musicians face numerous challenges in their careers, and losing a prized $2,000 guitar or a $6,000 piano can be devastating.

This initiative is a lifeline for those whose livelihoods depend on their instruments.

Importantly, no cash is distributed.

Instead, applicants must provide details about the equipment lost and its approximate value to receive a replacement.

Eligibility is restricted to those residing in the LA area.

Music programs and institutions are also encouraged to apply.

Eligible institutions are those that conduct “in-school music classes in which the students make music, after-school music programs that are not run by the school, community music programs which offer music instruction to the community or music therapy programs in which the participants actively make music.”

Guitar Center, now valued at over $2 billion, has deep roots in the area.

Founded 66 years ago in Hollywood, its first eight locations were established in Los Angeles and San Francisco.
