  • It was a usual day for Robert Brantley until he spotted something while driving home from work.
  • A helpless kitten on the roadside was waiting to be rescued.
  • After getting out of his car to rescue the kitten, he discovered other kittens waiting in the tall brush off the road.

Robert Brantley was driving home from work earlier this week when he noticed something.

A small kitten lay on the side of the road, apparently alone and forlorn. She looked like she was abandoned.

Brantley knew he needed to stop, but he had no clue what was going to happen next.

Brantley received the surprise of a lifetime after getting out of his car to transport the baby cat to safety. Other kittens were waiting hidden in the tall brush off the road, apparently sensing Brantley’s willingness to rescue them.

It was the cutest ambush ever.

What began as a single cat in need of rescue had quickly grown to 13 kittens. Brantley was taken aback, yet his sympathy didn’t waver. He made the decision to help all of them.

Brantley’s car was quickly filled with grateful kittens.

Brantley returned home with his car full of kittens and let them explore his lawn and be acquainted with his family.

“The kids are loving on them in the meantime and we’re fattening them up!” wrote Brantley.

The kittens, who appeared to have been abandoned, were now safe.

Brantley and his family undoubtedly have a lot on their plates, but they’re not alone. The accidental cat dad has been sharing his journey with the kittens on social media, where he has received a flood of advice and support from well-wishers and cat lovers.

While it’s unclear how the kittens ended up by the side of the road, one thing is certain: they found the right person to save them from their situation.

The kittens’ future now looks better because of Brantley.

He wrote: “[We’re] working on getting them all a good home!”
