  • The pair were brought to the shelter after their previous owner was no longer able to care for them.
  • Shelter staff are determined to keep the duo together and are seeking rescue options

A dog and goat duo at the Wake County Animal Center in North Carolina have captured the hearts of staff and animal lovers alike.

The unlikely pair, named Cinnamon and Felix, were brought to the shelter after their owner could no longer care for them. To the surprise of shelter workers, the two animals had formed an inseparable bond.

Jennifer Federico, the shelter’s director, explained that the pair’s friendship is especially rare given the often-violent history between dogs and goats.

“That’s not a normal combination…this is just a very unusual group,” she said. Federico added that Cinnamon becomes distressed when separated from her best friend, Felix.

While the shelter is exploring rescue options, they are also hoping to find the pair a new home through adoption. Federico emphasized that it is important to keep the duo together for their wellbeing.

“Whatever the reason for these two bonding, it’s clear what would be best for their well-being is to keep them together,” she said.
