Fresh off Olympic gold, Florida Panthers star Matthew Tkachuk appeared on Hangout with Sean Hannity to announce he and wife Ellie are expecting their first child. Married in 2025, the couple eagerly awaits their little one’s arrival.

They plan an old-school approach by keeping the baby’s sex a surprise until birth.

“We’re going old-school approach, which I wasn’t too fond of early, I will say, because it’s right there. All we have to do is look,” Matthew told Sean.

Son of NHL legend Keith Tkachuk and brother to Ottawa Senators’ Brady, Matthew dreams of passing on the family hockey passion.

“Yes, I mean, at some point, would definitely have to have a boy,” Matthew said.

He shares extra excitement for coaching days ahead over his pro career.

“And I think I’m more excited for youth hockey one day than my current hockey right now,” he said.

Matthew looks forward to hockey parent joys like road trips and hotel lobby chats.

“Like, honest to God, like, I can’t wait for the road trips. I can’t wait for, like the family to come. I can’t wait for the parents to be in the hotel lobby bar at night, talking about the day and like, oh, just the little things,” he adds.
