Jason Momoa surprises young fan with ‘Aquaman’ trident [Video]
- Seven-year-old Danny Sheehan received an early birthday gift from Jason Momoa — a life-sized Aquaman trident.
- Jason had a viral video call with Danny last month after the actor saw a clip of the boy receiving an Aquaman action figure.
- Danny, who’s been battling cancer, says Aquaman is his favorite superhero.
Aquaman superfan Danny Sheehan received an early birthday present from actor Jason Momoa. The star has made a video call last month with the 7-year-old, offering him a ride with the dolphins together.
Danny was diagnosed with pineoblastoma in January 2017. It is a rare and aggressive form of brain cancer but he has been fighting it ever since. Through all the treatments — chemotherapy, radiation, surgery, and a stem cell transplant — he remains strong, drawing strength from his favorite superhero.
Jason shared a post to Instagram, saying he arranged for Danny to receive a set of action figures and a life-sized trident for his upcoming 8th birthday. Yes, similar to Aquaman’s trident. There’s a note, too!
It reads: “Can’t wait to ride on some dolphins with you, Danny! Love, Uncle Aquaman.”
In the post, Danny can be seen happily clutching his new toys.
“Danny was speechless — which for one so talkative, was a true testament to how surprised he was,” Danny’s mom Natalie tells Yahoo Entertainment.
“My reaction was one of sheer delight, surprise and gratitude,” Natalie added. “Danny had a rough week this week, so it was great to see him so lively and excited.”
I’m sure no other child has squealed with such glee during a holiday photo session.???? Thank you to Corey Taylor (Corey Taylor Photography), The Farm at Raven Brook, and, of course, Aquaman for a special afternoon! The past few nights have been hard for D because of new spinal pain but today he shined with excitement and pure joy! Thank you!!Posted by 4TheLoveofDanny on Sunday, 15 November 2020
According to a GoFundMe page, Natalie said that Danny has just completed three weeks of daily radiation.
Danny was undergoing his treatment in November when he first connected with Jason after the actor learned of a now-viral video that shows Danny shouting in excitement after receiving an Aquaman action figure. Jason surprised Danny with a FaceTime call that he also shared on Instagram.
Natalie says they tried all other available treatment options. Now, her family is now waiting for news related to the compassionate usage of a drug being trialed.
Natalie shared on Facebook how Jason and the “Aquaman squeal heard around the world” played a part in that even becoming a possibility. It turned out, a stranger who saw the posts connected the Sheehan family to a doctor working on the drug trial.
Keep on fighting, young warrior!
