  • A man was running an errand at the bank when he spotted a kitten, who jumped right into his arms.
  • The kitten had no owner, so he took her home while looking for the perfect family to adopt her.
  • She ended up living with his daughter’s best friend, so they still get to see her all the time!

Dan Yavetz started the day running an errand at his local bank and ended up coming home with a kitten.

On his way to the bank in Silver Spring, Maryland, he heard a tiny “meow” from under one of the parked cars.

Dan told The Dodo, “I got down, and I saw a kitten hiding, and I called out to her. Surprisingly enough, she ran out and jumped right in my arms.”

He didn’t even have to coax her — she ran out to him right away!

“I grabbed her, and she started purring and was really comfortable. She was a beautiful-looking baby cat,” he shared.

It seemed like the kitten wanted to be rescued and knew that she would be safe in Dan’s arms.

Still, Dan had to make sure if the friendly kitten belonged to anyone. Thinking she may have escaped from the the nearby animal hospital, he asked around, but nobody claimed her.

The kitten also didn’t have a microchip, so Dan decided to just bring the kitten along to his automotive shop and gas station to keep him company until the end of his workday.

Dan shared, “She’s totally a road cat. She was riding on my shoulder on the way home, sitting in the passenger seat. Real cool, not skittish or anything, just full of love and full of energy.”

Dan knew he couldn’t adopt the kitten, however, since they already had two cats at home.

But while he was looking for a family to adopt her, he had grown attached to the sweet kitten.

Fortunately, he found the perfect solution. His 8-year-old daughter’s best friend was looking to adopt a cat!

Dan thought it was “the best of both worlds.” The cat ended up going to a good home — a place Dan and his kids always visits, as well!

“We’re always going over there for the kids to hang out, so I get to see her a lot, too,” Dan shared.

The kitten, who is now named Lily, is living her best life at her new home, where the cat tower and scratching post have become her favorites.

She also makes sure to show her gratitude to Dan whenever he visits.

“Every time we go over there, she’s always bouncing around… and she’s a big snuggler,” Dan shared.
