Like a rom-com movie: Fate brings this couple to meet in a flight

Published

  • Michael and Cathlyn, now a married couple, first met in a Southwest Airlines flight in November 2018.
  • They were sitting then in the same row, with a man taking the middle seat, who started a small talk that ended up in a two-hour chat of the trio.
  • The man happened to be a pastor whom the couple invited later on to declare them husband and wife.

How this couple met can make you imagine like it’s the first scene in a feel-good rom-com film.

The real-life setting was in a 5 AM Southwest Airlines flight in November 2018, when Cathlyn saw Michael sitting next to the window in an exit row.

Hoping to have a conversation with the handsome-looking guy, Cathlyn grabbed the opportunity to take the aisle seat in the same row — hardly expecting someone would sit in between them.

The man’s taking the middle sit, though, worked in favor of Cathlyn. Bonny Andrews, a pastor from India, started a conversation with both of them, which led to the three of them talking in the entire two-hour flight.

By the end of the trip, Michael and Cathlyn had exchanged numbers, leading for them to get to know each other more.

After a year of dating, Michael was ready to pop the big question. As they’ve met in a Southwest Airlines flight, Michael did the proposal in the cabin of the first Southwest plane at the Frontiers of Flight Museum in Dallas, Texas.

That moment must have felt so surreal when Cathlyn said yes to her now husband Michael.

Celebrating with the couple, Southwest sent them a bottle of champagne — personalized with the flight number from where they first met.

Grateful to that trip, Michael and Cathlyn included a touch of Southwest Airlines décor and details in their wedding. Besides the memorable flight, they also did not forget the pastor ‘cupid,’ who technically made the way for them to talk with each other, and asked him if he could officiate the wedding.

Bonny, so thrilled with the good news, seized the chance of declaring them husband and wife.

How it ends, for now, also seems like a happy movie ending, doesn’t it?
