  • Yezhu was just a few hours old when she was abandoned in a box near Dora Ngai’s house.
  • Dora and her boyfriend took the baby boar in and nursed her back to health after a lot of time and effort.
  • Now, Yezhu lives a healthy and happy life with her human family and four canine siblings!

When a baby boar was found abandoned in a box near vlogger Dora Ngai’s house, she knew that she had to take her in. The poor creature had only been a few hours old and was cold and lost.

While the baby boar, now named Yezhu, is a wild animal, Dora took on the challenge.

She and her boyfriend are quite used to taking care of animals, after all. They had previously come across other wild animals such as porcupines, peacocks, and monkeys, near their four-year residence in Sri Lanka.

They also have four dogs, three of whom were rescued from breeders.

Like most rescues, Yezhu needed a lot of care and attention at the start. But time wasn’t a problem for her new family, especially amid the pandemic.

The only roadblock was that they had no idea about caring for a wild boar.

Dora asked around, but “everyone said it’s not that easy if they are this young, and that they always die without the mother.”

When they tried feeding Yezhu cow’s milk, she got sick after the third day and “got very weak.”

Still, they wouldn’t give up and did more research. Yezhu eventually got better when they switched to a puppy milk replacer.

Dora shared that it felt like they were taking care of a human baby.

“We read online that she would need to be fed every hour,” she recalled. “My boyfriend and I took turns sleeping in the living room with her for almost the first four weeks, feeding her every hour when she wakes up and starts crying.”

Despite all the time and effort needed to care for her, Dora and her boyfriend never gave up and loved her even more.

There’s another reason that Little Yezhu’s human family is happy to have her. She has a blind eye, so she will not make it in the wild.

Once Yezhu was healthy enough, she was slowly introduced to her canine siblings.

Dora and her boyfriend were worried that their pups may not make her feel welcome.

Biubiu the Labrador, in particular, was initially hesitant. But it wasn’t long before all four pups happily welcomed their new sister.

Nowadays, they all eat, play, and sleep together!

Thanks to Dora, Yezhu is living a healthy and happy life. We can’t wait for her future adventures as she grows up!
