Time and time again, dogs have proven how loyal they can be to their beloved humans.

When Bumer’s mom, Maria Isabel Benites Chamba, passed away at age 95, he made sure to stay by her side until the very end.

Bumer was always close by all throughout the wake organized by Funeraria Santa Rosa. It was apparent that it was what he had done during her life.

A funeral home spokesperson told The Dodo, “You could see the loyalty and affection that existed between her and her dog. He was always there with his owner.”

Bumer stayed close to his late owner even after the ceremony. He even insisted to be part of the procession that followed his human’s coffin on the way to the burial site at the cemetery.

The funeral home spokesperson recalled, “He circled the hearse before hopping aboard as if to say, ‘I want to go and say goodbye to my mom.’ A tremendous example of loyalty.”

Everyone present witnessed his absolute love for his human.

He was completely heartbroken. Maria may have passed on, but Bumer’s loyalty lives on, and we hope that his heart heals in the company of others. He will not be alone.

The funeral home shared that the bereaved family and Bumer have found a warm new home in each other.
