  • Eleven-year-old Star Wars fan Isabella Tadlock, who was born without most of her left arm, received an R2-D2 bionic limb.
  • Mark Hamill aka Luke Skywalker congratulates the little girl after her new arm was delivered to her.
  • Mom says the new arm has already changed a lot for her daughter.

Everybody loves Star Wars, but nobody showed their devotion to the fandom the way Isabella Tadlock did.

Perhaps in part, because the fandom has gone out of their ways to help her to raise $14,000 to pay for an “R2-D2 arm.” 11-year-old Isabella was born without most of her left arm and had the plan to buy a bionic arm designed after the loveable white and blue droid.

Isabella now has her R2-D2 arm. Mark Hamill aka Luke Skywalker even called to congratulate her after her new arm was delivered to her.

Manufacturer Open Bionics shared the video of the conversation between Isabella and Mark Hamill.

Hamill said in the video, “I heard you’re a ‘Star Wars’ fan. But I have to tell you, I’m a big fan of yours. I’m so proud of you,”, adding, “They call it a hero arm because you really are a hero.”

Hamill expresses how happy he is for Isabela. The actor also introduced the girl to his dogs, Millie and Mabel.

This was the first for Isabella, but this was not the first interaction between the two. Mark Hamill was one of the people who contributed to the fundraiser back in 2019 to help and pay for the bionic limb for the little girl.

The fundraiser proved to be a success, raising enough for a bionic limb for Isabella, which she received late February.

Isabella even demonstrated in the video chat with the actor what her new arm can do including grabbing a Christmas ornament with her new fingers.

Isabella wrote on her MightyCause fundraising page after receiving her very own limb, “I am so excited. I will be able to ride my bike, swing on the monkey bars, create in the kitchen and be like my friends.”

The new arm had already changed a lot for her daughter, says Pamela Tadlock.

“It’s helping tremendously with her self-esteem and confidence,” Tadlock said. “Just last night for the first time she was able to blow dry her hair by herself.”

Of course, Hamill used the famous Star Wars line for the parting inspiration he would leave with Isabella.

“May the Force be with you, always,” he said.
