On March 17, a meteor caused a resounding boom heard throughout eastern U.S. states, delighting skywatchers from Ohio to Pennsylvania.

The National Weather Service confirmed the event, with videos capturing the shiny streak hurtling toward Earth.

“It shook my whole house,” Andrea Witt from Lorain County, Ohio, shared with TODAY.com, her shock filmed as it passed overhead.

“It really did sound like it came from the sky directly over my home,” Jess Adamini from Cleveland remarked. “It was extremely loud. It shook the ground. It’s kind of remarkable.”

In Olmsted Falls, Ohio, a school bus lot video showed the fireball vanishing into clouds between 8:56 and 8:57 a.m.

NASA detailed the nearly 6-foot asteroid weighing 7 tons traveling southeast at 45,000 mph before fragmenting over Valley City, with meteorites near Medina County.

“We heard this boom and big boom and a vibration in the building,” Cleveland business owner Terry Peterson told WKYC.
