Didi and James Fritts, along with their two dogs, got trapped when their home slid off its foundation and went down a slope after the landslide, which was likely caused by rain.

Didi managed to crawl to safety, while James was rescued when firefighters arrived. He said that one of their dogs passed away in the collapse, and assumed that the same tragic fate happened to their second dog, Sammy.

But around six days after the incident, the couple started hearing their dog inside their home. Hoping that she was still alive, they contacted Seattle Fire for a rescue.

The firefighters who responded also heard the dog, so they started “cutting through walls and flooring” to find her.

They shared footage of the responders rescuing the black dog from the wreckage and carrying her to safety.

Didi’s voice can be heard in the video as she exclaimed “My baby!” upon seeing Sammy.

One rescuer then assures her that the dog is “okay.”

NBC affiliate KING 5 reported that vets also responded to the scene and examined Sammy. They reported that she “seemed alert and wagged her tail when she saw her owner.”

Seattle Fire also confirmed that Sammy is in a “stable” condition.
