  • A fire broke out in the Davidson house but the room of the littlest member of the house was blocked.
  • The parents decided to get her out through the window and 7-year-old Eli was the one who could reach her.
  • Eli did not want his sister to die and so he braved the fire to save her.

When he was tasked to get to her sister when their house was burning, seven-year-old Eli said, “I thought I couldn’t do it, but then I said, ‘I got her, Dad.’ I was scared, but I didn’t want my sister to die.” He became her hero!

Eli’s dad, Chris said: “We couldn’t be more proud of Eli. He did something a grown man wouldn’t do.”

December 8 at the Davidson residence in Tazewell, Tennessee was a nice and quiet evening. Chris and Nicole Davidson are former firefighters who also happen to be parents to at least 34 foster children.

That night, they had 3 children with them: Eli, 7; Elijah, 2; and Erin, 22 months old.

As they lay sleeping, Nicole woke up to the smell of smoke. The couple grabbed Eli and Elijah and made a dash for the door. Erin’s room was already blocked by the fire.

They decided to get Erin out through the window on the ground floor but Chris could not lift himself through it. They turned to Eli to do it.

As Chris explained, the fire was already thick and when they got to the window, there was nothing for him to stand on to be able to reach it. “So I picked up Eli, who went through the window and was able to grab her from her crib.”

Eli’s heroic act was the final move to make sure that everyone was accounted for and safe outside as the firefighters battled the blaze.

The family was okay but the fire destroyed everything.

Chris said, “It’s devastating. We have nothing. You have never been as humble as you are when you don’t even have your own underwear to wear.”

To help the family get back on its feet, a GoFundMe was created and has already raised $362,000!

They may have lost their material possessions to the fire but help is on the way. What is important is they have each other. And they can count on Eli to be there to rise up to a challenge.
