Naughty Dog Pretends to Sleep after Throwing Messy Tantrum

  • Daisy is a playful, clingy dog who loves getting attention.
  • So when she’s left home alone, she can’t help but show her feelings by throwing a destructive tantrum.
  • When her parents decided to use a common training technique, she lashed out by trashing the whole room!

Daisy is one playful dog who especially loves getting attention. At almost 5 years old, she still behaves like a puppy.

“She’s very clingy and loves to be touching us at all times. When she wants attention and cuddles, she’s very persistent until we humans give in to her,” Daisy’s mom, Sierra Niswonger, told The Dodo.

That’s probably why she easily gets bored when left home alone. So she lets her parents know by throwing a messy tantrum.

She started by ruining the blinds in her parents’ room.

“She only destroys blinds, and it’s only when she’s holding a grudge against us. She first destroyed blinds when we left her with a friend for a weekend shortly after we got her,” Sierra shared. “We replaced the friend’s blinds of course, but ever since then we try our best to remember to pull the blinds up when we leave.”

Daisy’s parents tried to prevent her messy tantrums by using a common training technique: a static electricity mat outside their bedroom door. It doesn’t harm Daisy, but it certainly annoys her.

So, once again, she showed her feelings by making a mess. This time, she wrecked the whole room.

Sierra said, “We got the mat about a month ago and she threw her tantrum that night without any hesitation. I wish we had a camera in the house, I would have loved watching her reaction and the moment she decided it was time to terrorize the house.”

Daisy still felt some guilt, though, so when she heard her dad coming in, she pretended to sleep by rushing to her bed.

Daisy’s dad, Steven Daniels, couldn’t believe the mess at first. He told The Dodo, “I opened the door, immediately stopped, backed away slowly, and shut the door. I honestly thought I might have walked into the wrong apartment.”

Daisy’s guilt eventually overcame her and showed through her reactions. Besides, she was home alone, so no one else could have made such a mess.

Daisy is lucky that her parents can’t stay mad at her for too long!

If you suspect that your dog’s destructive behavior may be caused by anxiety, make sure to consult your vet.
