  • Staff at Saint Luke’s Health System in Kansas City celebrated the Tokyo Olympics with the newborns.
  • They made hand-crocheted Team USA outfits and gold medals for the baby ‘athletes.’
  • The infants’ families even got to take the pretty, tiny outfits home.

This calls for a double celebration.

Besides rejoicing over the USA’s win on the Tokyo Olympics, delivering especially in this challenging pandemic time needs to be celebrated, too. And this was what a hospital did exactly.

To celebrate the Olympics opening ceremony, staff at Saint Luke’s Health System in Kansas City decided to pass a plastic ‘torch’ around the babies in their care.

The fete was even made more special with the tiny hand-crocheted Olympian-themed outfits and gold medals the hospital gave to the newborn babies.

The super cute outfits were made for baby ‘athletes’ in swimming, weightlifting, boxing, basketball, gymnastics, and tennis kits — and they all looked so adorable in their photoshoot!

The swimwear came with adorable swimming hat and goggles, while the weightlifting baby had a tiny dumbbell.

Nurse Stephanie Peterson of the hospital spent about two hours to make around 20 gold medals, to honor the infants for “how amazing they are for coming into this world.”

“Delivering during COVID is hard,” she said. These babies deserve to be celebrated.

The families of the baby athletes were invited in the special ceremony and photoshoot. They even got to take the pretty outfit home, along with the good memories in it.
