Philly Man Delivers Clean Clothes to Homeless

Quick Smiles:
- Joe Richardson tows mobile laundromat to help Philadelphia’s homeless.
- Volunteers weekly to wash and dry clothes on busy streets.
- Inspired during prison to bring dignity through clean outfits.
After his release from a 14-year prison sentence in 2021, Joe Richardson transformed a family laundromat passion into a uplifting mobile service for the unhoused.
Now, he parks his trailer at spots like Arch and Broad streets, offering free washes that brighten lives.
“One guy earlier just said that just to have clean clothes is a blessing, it helps me feel better about myself,” Richardson shared.
Philadelphia supports around 5,000 unhoused residents with 60 shelters, as the mayor pledges 1,000 more beds to ease street living.
