A perfectly timed photo of a bubble near a black Labrador’s butt won a comedy photo award after several people thought it seemed like the picture captured a “fart bubble.”

Pepper’s owner, Zoe Ross, named the photo “Whizz Pop.”

Pepper is now 7 months old, but she was only 9 weeks old when this picture was taken. She was playing with bubbles in the garden when a big one floated near her butt. That exact moment was incidentally captured on camera.

Zoe said that they didn’t even think they would win the £2,000 prize. They simply wanted to enter the Animal Friends Comedy Pet Photo Awards 2021 because it supports the pet welfare charity Animal Support Angels.

According to Zoe, Pepper is “the happiest puppy.”

“She is such a little monkey, and very proud of herself, bringing in items from the garden and parading past you until you notice her,” Zoe added. “[She’s] completely loved to pieces.”

Shortly after Pepper joined Zoe’s family, she became a play buddy for her dog sibling Dolly, who has separation anxiety.

Paul Joynson-Hicks and Tom Sullam started the Comedy Pet Photo Competition to celebrate pets and the positivity they bring to people’s lives.

They enlisted the help of Animal Friends Pet Insurance to raise funds for Animal Support Angels. The organization aims to relieve animals’ suffering by providing food, shelter, re-homing services, veterinary support, and more.

The competition awarded them £10,000 — an “absolute lifeline” according to Founder-Trustee Amanda Broome.

Amanda stated, “As well as being an uplifting source of joy and hilarity, this funny pet photo competition has also helped to improve the lives of thousands of animals across the country and beyond.”

Zoe praised the competition as “a great, fun way to help promote the charity.” She was also delighted by how many smiles Pepper brought about. She added that some of their prize money will be donated to charity while some will be used to get her dogs some well-deserved treats.
