Photos Of A Healthy Dog Who Used To Be Emaciated Is Proof Of The Power Of Love

  • It is incredible how love and care can transform a dog from skin and bones to a healthy and loving pup.
  • In a post, the Animal Care Services (ACS) of City of San Antonio showed before and after photos of the rescue dog Rocco.
  • Rocco has doubled his weight and has learned basic house manners and new skills from the family that has adopted him.

In a Facebook post by the City of San Antonio Animal Care Services (ACS), they shared photos of the remarkable recovery of one of its former residents.

And the transformation is amazing and heart-tugging.

The post showed two photos of a white dog named Rocco.  The first photo labeled “before” was taken when Rocco first arrived at the shelter. It showed how his ribs and spine protruded through his fur.

The second photo labeled “after” showed the present Rocco sporting a healthy weight after he was given love and care by his new family.

He not only filled out but also learned new skills.

Rocco’s transformation story started in October when ACS received a call about two distressed dogs. They were skin and bones and Rocco would fall over from weakness when he attempted to bark.

The ACS wrote that after speaking with nearby neighbors, “It seemed that the dogs had been left alone for over a week.”

They contacted the dogs’ original owner and they learned that they could no longer take care of the poor pups, surrendering them to ACS.

Ms. P, as the shelter named Rocco’s new mom, “felt drawn to him.”

The shelter wrote, “Her previous senior pup had passed away in August, and she didn’t feel ready to add another dog to her family until she saw Rocco. After seeing his photo, Ms. P loaded up her family and arrived at ACS as soon as our doors opened.”

And even when they discovered that Rocco was deaf, they learned to communicate with him using sign language and taught him basic house manners.

In time, the senior and special needs dog Rocco became a cuddle bug who has doubled his weight from the time they rescued him.

ACS also announced that Rocco’s companion Skye “has had an incredible body condition transformation and is available for adoption through God’s Dogs Rescue.”

We wish you all the best, Skye and Rocco!
