Pit Bull’s Huge Size Scares Potential Adopters Away Not Knowing He’s A Gentle Giant

  • A giant pit bull has just been surrendered to the Ventura County Animal Services.
  • Ace, the 103-pound dog, has already been judged based on his size but what they do not know is that he’s a gentle giant who only wants to chill.
  • The gentle giant loves smaller dogs, is well-behaved and is pretty quiet— a complete cool guy.

Ace, a 103-pound pit bull, is a classic victim of ‘judging a book by its cover”.

There is no denying that the first thing that you would notice about Ace is his size.  He is only 2 years old and he weighs a hefty 103 pounds. He has been surrendered to the Ventura County Animal Services as nobody was able to take him in because of his size.

Jules Hooper of Ventura County Animal Services said, “Our fear with Ace [is] that, as a 103-[pound] pit bull, people might not give him a chance to show how kind and gentle he is.”  He added, “We think he’s a beautiful boy and will win over the hearts of the right people.”

What a lot of people will fail to see because they have already judged Ace by his size is his love for other dogs, especially smaller ones.  They would also miss out on knowing that Ace only wants to explore a little but is big on chilling out.  And the best one of all?  He loves to be petted.

Within just a few days at the shelter, Ace has focused his attention on being with his new dog friends.  He still has to prove what his previous family said that he loves attention.  In time, he will adjust to being with a different set of people.

Hooper explained, “We think Ace would do best in a home with another mellow dog and a yard where they can play.” Hooper added, “Because of his size, he can be a strong puller on walks. An adult with the strength to guide him on [a] leash would be ideal. The most important thing is that he gets a loving family!”

What more can you ask for from a gentle giant?  He is crate-trained and fully house-trained.  He is well-behaved when he roams around a house and remains pretty quiet. He is really a chill guy and deserves a cool, chill home.

We wish you all the best, Ace!
