Pope Leo XIV’s early detection brings hope for a smooth recovery
Faithful around the world flood social media with heartfelt prayers
Even non-religious admirers express gratitude and well-wishes

Pope Leo XIV, the first American pope in history, continues to connect with millions through social media, sharing his faith and daily reflections. Like Pope Francis before him, he uses technology to pray, inspire, and keep the faithful informed. On October 11, 2026, he posted a health update that touched hearts worldwide.

“Dear friends, during some recent medical examinations, the doctors found a small, localized nodule in my lung. It was detected at a very early stage and is well-localized. The doctors believe that it is best to intervene, so, following their advice, I have decided to undergo surgery to remove it. The operation is already scheduled to take place in the coming days. I thank you for your spiritual closeness and entrust myself to your prayers,” he wrote on X.

His message quickly filled with comforting replies from people of every background.

“Dear Papa, I found the perfect prayer of healing by Saint Padre Pio, and I just Prayed it in Your name to Our Heavenly Father on Your behalf. I hope that You don’t mind and Get Well,” one person shared.

Another offered, “I will most certainly pray for you Pope Leo. Please know that millions of people across the world are praying for your quick and full recovery!!! God Bless you, Pope Leo.”

Even those who do not share his faith joined in the chorus of support.

“Dear Leo, I’m not at all religious, but I admire your work greatly, and the world is a better, kinder place thanks to you. I sincerely hope that all goes well for your surgery, and (rusty as I may be) will pray for you,” a kind stranger wrote.
