  • Weller, a friendly Bernese mountain dog, spotted some guinea pigs at a pet store and wanted to befriend them.
  • He paced back and forth and extended a paw to greet them, but they didn’t pay him enough attention.
  • Weller decided to let out a loud bark as if to say “hello,” but the sudden sound scared off the little creatures.

Weller, a 7-month-old Bernese mountain dog, was extremely curious when he spotted a pair of furry guinea pigs while visiting the local pet store.

Weller stares with his big brown eyes and paces back and forth as he inspects the tiny creatures.

In this adorable video shared by TikTok user thebernerbunch on Nov. 28, we can see Weller trying to figure out what to do.

The caption read, “We went to the pet store and Weller was very intrigued with the guinea pigs.”

Weller starts by studying the strange creatures, which perhaps he thinks look like “big chimkin nuggets,” that don’t smell like “chimkin.”

He then decides that he wants to be friends with them.

He tries extending a paw in greeting, but the guinea pigs are busy with themselves, ignoring him.

So Weller lets out a loud bark, as if to ask, “Do you wanna be frens?” But the sudden noise scares the guinea pigs away! The little ones can’t help but scurry away into their little shelters.

That might have been too strong, Weller. Perhaps you can try using your inside voice the next time you come for a visit? We’re all cheering for you!

Bernese mountain dogs are indeed known for their easygoing nature and sweet personality.

Maybe next time Weller will find a calmer way to befriend the little creatures. That’s another unlikely friendship we are waiting to see!
