One pup who saw such a food photo may actually be hungry, since he desperately tried to eat it straight from the magazine.

His desperate attempts were captured on video and shared on TikTok. In the eight-second clip, we can see a tiny dog perched atop a magazine, which showcases appetizing photos of meatballs and pasta, among others. He then tries his best to lick and gnaw at the photo of a spoonful of sauce.

The poor pup just wants a taste!

Viewers can’t help but find the confused pup hilarious. One comment read, “She’s not the sharpest tool in the shed, but she’s cute!”

Another viewer jokingly offered a reason: “Maybe it’s a scratch and sniff.” A third found it relatable and wrote, “Yeah, sometimes I want the food pictured in magazines too.”

The video even caught the attention of the famous WeRateDogs account, which commented, “Food looks so good you can almost taste it.”

Canines have an incredible sense of smell, since their noses have about 125 million sensory glands, compared to a human’s 5-to-10 million, according to the American Kennel Club. So it’s baffling to see a dog getting tricked by a photo of food, which most likely smells like a typical magazine page.

Perhaps it is a scratch and sniff? We highly doubt it, but we’re giving this puppy a pass. Maybe he’s just really hangry he lost all sense, like most of us do when deprived of sustenance.
