Healthcare workers deserve all the support we can give — as well as our appreciation and gratitude.

So the citizens of India joined in solidarity on Sunday and heeded the call of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to thank their nation’s front-liners — all while in quarantine.

The 14-day quarantine in India was proposed by Modi during a national address on Thursday.

According to Johns Hopkins University, coronavirus has infected 376 in India, of which 7 have died, as of late Sunday local time.

Several Indians applauded and cheered from their windows, balconies, and doorways at 5 p.m. (8:30 a.m. ET).

Some residents blew conch shells while others rang bells. Across the country, residents of apartment complexes joined in on the cheering.

It is just another wholesome trend that started amid the outbreak — Spain and Italy showed similar gestures in the previous days.

Gratitude spread all over India.

In the New Delhi capital, President Ram Nath Kovind and senior ministers from Modi’s Cabinet gave a standing ovation.

Soldiers from the Indian army also dedicated several minutes to offer a round of applause.

Celebrities such as Amitabh Bachchan also gave thanks to the nation’s coronavirus warriors.

Modi thanked everyone’s overwhelming response on Sunday evening via Twitter.

“The country thanked each person who led the fight against the coronavirus. Many thanks to the countrymen… This is not only the sound of gratitude, but also the beginning of a long fight where we will attain victory. Let us, with this determination and resolve bind ourselves in social distancing,” he wrote.
