A celebration of lovable pets marks the start of National Dog Month, with readers sharing the wonderful ways their canine companions brighten their days. This week27s delightfully heartwarming winner is Laina, a special hound whose unique charm has stolen the show and lifted spirits everywhere.

Laina27s enchanting presence in her family is impossible to deny. Her owner, Patti Generale, shares that Laina has an unexpected passion: “She is obsessed with laundry baskets. There is no rhyme or reason for it, but you can almost always find her sitting in one.” Often, she27ll join in for a snugglebe especially if there27s food around. “She is a very food-motivated dog,” Patti adds with a smile.

“She brought us a lot of joy.”

Laina27s playful antics and loving personality have earned her not only a soft spot in her family27s heart, but also some well-deserved recognition.

Among the other lovable finalists making a positive difference are two sibling Cavachons, Harvey and Coco, who delight their owner Vicki Peacock every day. Vicki reveals, “Harvey is the leader and thinks he is much bigger than he is, but they are very sweet and gentle and love to make friends.” These seven-year-old companions love their cuddle sessions and quiet time, and their sweet natures make living alone feel much brighter.

“They have been nothing but great company for me, making me laugh every day,” Vicki shares warmly.

Daisy, a lively one-year-old Rottsky (a mix of Rottweiler and Siberian husky), also stole some hearts with her funny, mischievous spirit. Karen Garcia, Daisy27s owner, affectionately calls her “Rotten Rottsky” thanks to her unforgettable personality. “She has a unique, dominating, mischievous personality that’s humorous at times,” said Karen.

Owner Jamie High is deeply grateful for Pierre27s love, saying, “He helped me through a very tough time in my life, and I’m grateful every day. I wouldn’t change a thing about him!” Even on his silliest, most mischievous days, Pierre shows how much joy a pet can bring.

Each of these remarkable dogs demonstrates the amazing ways pets can lift us up and keep us smiling, day after day. Their unconditional love, quirky habits, and comforting presence truly capture what it means to celebrate our favorite canine companions.
