  • A stray kitty was found wandering with a small glass bowl stuck in its head.
  • Rescuers immediately pried the glass bowl from its head and named her Buzz Lightyear.
  • She is now safe, bathed, spayed and vaccinated and will be up for adoption once she adapts to being and living with humans

A cat’s curiosity can really lead to a lot of misadventures.

When rescuers from Animal Rescue League of Boston and Fall River Animal Control saw a 6-month-old orange kitten at the Fall River, they definitely knew she needed help.

The cat was walking around with a small glass bowl from maybe a light fixture stuck or a fish bowl in her head.

The ARL field staff then set up a drop trap for the community of cats in the area.  Her siblings must have smelled the food inside and she just followed their lead.  She was unable to smell it with the bowl covering her entire head.

As soon as they captured her, they quickly took off the glass helmet.  This brought back the cat’s ability to smell and eat again.  They also brought her to the ARL’s Dedham Animal Care and Adoption Center, where she had a good bath and checked for any sickness. Fortunately, she was healthy.

And for her curiosity that led her to insert her body in tight spaces like the glass helmet and make her a bubble head, she was given the name of Buzz Lightyear.

With her new name on the veterinarian’s record, she was also vaccinated and spayed.  She still has to be trained to trust humans and learn to live with them before she will be opened up for adoption.

For now, she has been making friends with the other cats at the shelter.

Maybe she can get adopted by a family that has a dog named Sheriff Woody and that would definitely be a perfect Toy Story.
