Selfless Cop Gives Away Own Car For A Mom Who Escaped Domestic Violence [Video]

The single mother of five could only say, “Strangers will go a long way to help you more than anyone else, so this is a true blessing.”

Veronica Campbell of the Atlanta Police Department may be a stranger to some, but for the Atlanta Police Foundation’s At Promise Center, she’s an angel.

Campbell has always tried to find ways to give and help people. She is forever organizing toy drives or paying for family from her own pocket.  Even the clothes on her back!

Which is what she did to a mother who moved herself and her children to Atlanta after managing to run away from domestic violence. 

To start over, find a place to live in, and make ends meet, the mom had to sell her car.  This made going to and from her place of work a challenge.  When Campbell knew her transportation troubles, she decided to give away her SUV to the single mom.

Campbell explained, “I knew that this mother needed a new lease on life. I had a vehicle and I just decided to give it to her and she would be able to put it to better use than me.”

Deputy Chief Michael O’Connor said that they have always known that it is in Officer Campbell’s DNA to find ways to help others. “The Atlanta Police Department is proud of Officer Campbell’s caring heart and efforts to bridge the gap between the police and the community.”

This is why it is no surprise that Campbell received the Law Enforcement Hero Award through the November 2020 National Law Enforcement Officer of the Month program.

There really is no limit to this kind person’s generosity.  What a hero and an angel!
