Yuma Kagiyama recorded his second consecutive Olympic silver, while fellow Japanese skater Shun Sato achieved bronze for his country.

Ilia Malinin, who led after the short program, finished eighth after a challenging free skate. Despite the results, Malinin reflected on his experience and remained upbeat about his preparations.

“Honestly, yeah, I was not expecting that,” he said. “I felt going into this competition I was so ready. I just felt ready going on that ice. I think maybe that might have been the reason, is I was too confident it was going to go well.”

The crowd at Milano Ice Arena witnessed a memorable evening full of surprises, including delighted reactions as Shaidorov realized his achievement.
