Imagine stepping into a 1970s private jet, not to soar through the skies, but to enjoy a unique overnight stay. This intriguing concept has been brought to life by Tamir Ali, an Airbnb host and antique car renovator, who has turned an old jet into a one-of-a-kind accommodation.

The jet, originally used to transport oil executives, still features its original cockpit, providing a nostalgic touch for aviation enthusiasts.

Ali’s passion project includes two bedrooms, a fully equipped kitchen, a bathroom with a shower, and an inviting outdoor seating area.

Ali acquired the jet in December 2023 from an acquaintance known for dealing in unusual items. After being decommissioned in the 1980s, the jet was cut in half and stripped of its wings for easier transport.

Ali spent seven months and nearly $120,000 on the transformation, which is now located in Dolgellau, Gwynedd, Wales.

“It’s awesome—when people walk in they say it’s much bigger than it seems on the outside,” Ali shared.

“It’s a unique experience, not many people get to sit in the cockpit of 70’s private jet.”

The renovation involved replacing carpets with wooden floors, rewiring the electrics, and installing a custom-made door. To accommodate guests comfortably, a 16ft by 9ft cabin was added to house a double bed, kitchen, and bathroom.

Reflecting on his journey, Ali explained his knack for dealing with “eccentric people—people who deal with the weird and wonderful.”

Recalling the jet’s initial state, Ali said, “It was looking a bit worse for wear, the nose cone was hanging off and there was no door.”

“There was lots of mold and moss inside, but I immediately envisioned what I wanted it to be.”

Available for £170 per night, this pet-friendly property has quickly gained popularity, achieving a 70% occupancy rate within just three weeks of listing.

“The feedback so far has been good, people seem to love it.”
