As they waited for police and emergency responders to arrive on the scene, they did their best to get the women out. Jack Johnson told KPRC that as soon as he saw the accident, he knew what he had to do.
He heard the women screaming:
“Get me out. Get me out. Help me! Help me!”
Jack Johnson explained that when he heard the screams, he could only think about one thing. “I thought about my little girls,” and it compelled him to help.
Miraculously, all three women survived the crash thanks to a group of strangers. Jack told KPRC he would love to talk to the other men who helped after the accident.
“Houston comes together. At a time of need, we come together,” he told the news station.
More strangers on the internet lauded the men for their courage in helping get the women out of their car.
“Every lecture about toxic masculinity becomes worthless the moment strangers need men willing to run toward danger and tear steel apart with their bare hands,” one person wrote.
Another agreed, writing:
“This is Houston! I’ve lived other places but moved back home to HTown partly for the community spirit. People really do help each other here. Hurricanes make a town come together and the Good Samaritan effect spills over into the rest of life.”
You never know what might happen when you wake up. That day, Jack Johnson and those other men were right where they needed to be to help save three lives.
Their selfless actions remind us that when crisis strikes, ordinary people can become extraordinary heroes. In a world that often feels divided, these brave men showed us what it means to love our neighbors and answer the call to help those in need.
