Stranger’s kindness saves family’s vacation after mom forgets son’s medication

A Canadian family on vacation in Mexico is feeling grateful for an act of kindness from a complete stranger.

Kirsten Marten, her husband, and their two sons were on their way to Mexico for a much-needed family vacation when she realized that their trip could be ruined. The mother-of-two had forgotten her youngest son’s medication.

“We left for Mexico without our youngest son’s critical medication,” Kirsten wrote in a Facebook post.

So, what she did was post a “Hail Mary” on a local mom’s Facebook group. She mentioned that it was 5 a.m. and she was asking “if anyone may happen to be flying out today or the next day and could bring his medicine with them.”

A fellow Canadian, Marina Miller, saw Kirsten’s post and immediately obliged. She is a resident of Victoria’s West Shore in British Columbia.

Marina bought the required medication and arranged to have it waiting at the hotel where Kirsten and her family will be staying in Mexico.

“Marina Miller – someone I’ve never met, let alone spoken to, reached out immediately and in a matter of minutes not only had me sorted out but had the medicine arrive at our hotel when we arrived and paid for it all herself!” Kirsten wrote in a Facebook post.

Kirsten posted a photo of her son’s medication — Fluoxac. According to Medical News Today, Fluoxetine oral capsule is used to treat different types of depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, some eating disorders, and panic attacks. Based on that information, the medication is indeed critical for her son not to miss.

Kirsten added on her Facebook post that Marina’s “act of kindness left this exhausted and overwhelmed mom welling and filled with love up and set our trip off on the right foot. We are eternally grateful to her and I have to say – I’m fangirling a bit over her now and can’t wait to meet her in person.”

Kirsten promised to repay the kindness Marina has shown her by paying it forward to another mom.
