  • A stray dog was reported to animal control after he repeatedly tried to steal a unicorn plushie from the store.
  • An officer decided to buy him the plushie, so he was more than pleased to follow her.
  • The pup, now named Sisu after a character from Disney’s “Raya and the Last Dragon,” has since found a forever home.

When a stray dog kept sneaking into a North Carolina Dollar Store to try and steal a purple unicorn plushie, an officer decided to give him what he wants.

The pup was so insistent on sneaking in whenever customers opened the door, so the store called for help.

Duplin County Animal Services’ supervisor Joe Newburn said that it was “one of the strangest calls I’ve ever dealt with.” He said that the stray pup “went straight for the unicorn, the same one every time.”

The store’s staff members locked the doors while the dog was still inside as they waited for an officer to arrive.

When Officer Samantha Lane was dispatched to the scene, she decided to just buy him the $10 stuffed unicorn. He easily followed the officer out of the store with the unicorn plushie in tow.

He was then placed in the county animal lock-up, together with his beloved plushie.

“This is what happens when you break into the dollar general consistently to steal the purple unicorn that you laid claim to, but then get animal control called to lock you up for your B & E and larceny,” Duplin County Animal Services wrote. “But the officer purchases your item for you and brings it in with you.”

The shelter staff named him Sisu after the character from Disney’s “Raya and the Last Dragon.”

He was described as a 1-year-old male, weighing about 67 pounds, who is “obviously super smart” and has been trained.

According to a Dollar General spokeswoman, they plan to send even more purple unicorns to whoever decides to adopt the sweet pup.

As it turns out, several people expressed their interest to adopt Sisu and his plushie! He has since found a forever home.

Officer Newburn believes that the unicorn plushie may have reminded Sisu of something in his past that comforts him.
