Student Has No One To Celebrate His Graduation With, So His Teacher Treats Him To Dinner And Plans To Buy Him A Car

A teenager from Alabama thought it was going to be a lonely graduation day but unexpectedly it turned out to be one of the greatest days of his life. Thanks to his amazing teacher!

The Bessemer City High School held its annual commencement exercises on Thursday and Dominque Moore was one of the teachers who organized the event. After the ceremony, everybody went away immediately to celebrate with their families and loved ones except one one. 

Dom went over to talk to the young man who was still sitting. “I know his moods and I knew he wasn’t himself,” Dom told AL.com. “I asked him, ‘Where are your people?’ and he was like, ‘Nobody’s here.”

At first, the teacher didn’t know what to say, so he told him, “I expect big things from you and it’s going to be OK.”

Nobody came to fetch the young man so Dom offered him a ride home. Neither of them had an idea what was about to unfold in the days to come. 

Before going home, Dom decided to treat the new graduate to eat out at any restaurant of his choice. He chose the Cheesecake Factory and they enjoyed their hearty meal and dessert — just a little celebration for the teen’s milestone in life.

Dom did not inquire further why the boy’s family never came. They were just enjoying the food and he was just happy the teen felt appreciated. 

Later that evening, something inside Dom urged him to share the boy’s story on Facebook, and how he felt about his experience with him. Then he shared his  Cash App ID ($mooredaeducator) for anyone with a kind heart to help the young man. 

Not long after, many generous people, mostly strangers, donated more than $5,000! So Dom helped the teen open a bank account so he could save money for his college. Dom also hoped to buy him a car one day. 

Many of the commenters in the post appreciate the young man and support him to have a better future. 

“I’m feeling amazing, that so many people would bless him in the way they have,” Dom said. He hopes that the teen’s story inspires others to give hope to those who need one.  “We take people and life for granted. Even though we have bad, in this moment it shows that mankind is good.”
