Sweet Love Story Unfolds between Two New Dog Neighbors

• When Lola the golden retriever and her family moved to a new home, they were welcomed by a new neighbor, Loki the Staffordshire terrier.
• Lola’s parents thought it was just a budding friendship, until they saw Lola pining for Loki by the back door.
• Now, Loki visits his new neighbor’s garden regularly, so the pair can spend lots of time together.

Meet Lola. She’s a golden retriever who’s “quite shy and timid,” so when her family moved to a new home, her mom Amber wondered how she would fare with the new neighbors.

But when they were welcomed by their neighbor dog, Staffordshire terrier Loki, “Lola was so excited to see another dog so often,” Amber shared.

They were separated by a wooden fence, but Loki would “always jump up at the fence and look for Lola.”

Lola, meanwhile, loved greeting Loki as well.

“Lola would always jump up and give him a little hello with some licks. We only just thought they were getting to know each other and that would be it, really,” Amber said.

Amber thought it was just a budding friendship. After all, Lola was usually scared of large dogs whenever they were out for a walk.

But she soon noticed changes in Lola’s behavior. She would while away her time waiting by the back door, whining to be let outside. She was pining for Loki!

Amber shared, “When we let her out, the first thing she’ll do is jump up at the fence to see if Loki is out. If Loki isn’t out, she’ll sit and wait by the fence.” 

Loki also liked being around Lola so much that he figured out a way to get to her garden!

“Now, usually in the mornings when we go to let Lola out, Loki is sat waiting in our garden for her,” Amber said.

A beautiful love story has blossomed between the two neighbors!

“They are so excited to see each other when they play — there’s lots of jumping around, running, lots of kissing! They are inseparable when they are together,” Amber said.
