This Couple Helps Feed The Hungry and Clothe The Homeless

The Fill The Pot Homeless Ministry is an organization that feeds all people who fall in line at their venue.  They do not ask questions if you are homeless. 

Their philosophy is: “If you come in line and you want a hot meal, we’ll give you a hot meal.”

It all started more than a decade ago when Reverend Jay Ragsdale helped his brother who was then living on a street in a piano box.  They would prepare meals from the back of a trailer and give out food at the park where his brother lived. This made a mark on him and inspired him and his wife Toni to start feeding people who needed it in their community.

It has now become an organization that ladles out hundreds of meals every Sunday– The Fill The Pot Homeless Ministry.

Relying on donations and volunteers, the ministry now doles out food and other necessities to anyone who asks for help.

Ray explained, “A lot of people get confused, thinking we serve just the homeless, but we’re just serving anybody that wants to eat. We don’t ask questions. We don’t say, ‘Do you have a place?’ We don’t police the food.”

Toni says the ministry is there if you need anything. “Our hope is just to kind of say, ‘You matter to us,’”, she added.   

Seeing their neighbors smile, being friends with the people that they have helped, and seeing and knowing that they got a job and something good has happened to them are the rewards for the couple.

Just as long as people need help, The Fill The Pot Homeless Ministry will come giving.
