- A chihuahua and pot belly pig have been named after Timon and Pumbaa for their friendship.
- Timon and Pumbaa were rescued after their previous owner was arrested on non-animal cruelty charges.
- They are now living happily together at a sanctuary, where their bond continues to grow.
Say hello to Timon and Pumbaa, an unlikely pair of BFFs. The chihuahua and pot belly pig were named after the well-loved meerkat and warthog characters from the classic film, The Lion King.
The unlikely pair was rescued by the Arizona Humane Society earlier this month after their previous owner was arrested on non-animal cruelty charges.
Their friendship only continued to grow at the shelter.
The staff noticed that Timon loved being on Pumbaa’s back, and Pumbaa didn’t seem to have any issues with it.
They truly look adorable! Much like The Lion King‘s Timon and Pumbaa.
The best buddies were thankfully able to stay together thanks to the efforts of another rescue in the state.
Arizona Humane Society stated, “They have since gone on to find new loving homes with our wonderful rescue partners at Better Piggies Rescue.”
Pumbaa has since made himself right at home, said Better Piggies Rescue. They added that Timon is now on his way to becoming a sanctuary dog.
The rescue organization stated, “Pumba — he’s made himself right at home in the front of the sanctuary with Bubs, TT, Alvin, and Mob. He’s a natural greeter and I can’t wait for everyone to meet him when we start up tours in September.”
They added that they are helping and working with Timon so that he can become a sanctuary dog and continue living happily beside his best friend.
