  • Donna Eberle set up a small Christmas tree outside her home and placed her wildlife camera nearby.
  • She got hours of magical footage of curious animals coming up to the tree.
  • The footage showed a fox, raccoons, possum, skunks, deer, and a bird chilling by the Christmas tree.

When Donna Eberle set up a small Christmas tree outside her home in Ashburn, Northern Virginia, she also placed her wildlife camera nearby to capture any creatures that would come visit.

She ended up having several “flash drives worth of nature footage,” she told WJLA-TV.

The tree, which is actually an oscillating sprinkler wrapped up in green garland and Christmas lights, attracted several different creatures when the sun went down.

Donna made sure to share pictures and videos on her Twitter and Instagram accounts. She also created a private Facebook page, Animals for Ashburn, to share photos.

Donna told WJLA-TV, “Probably my favorite was one night when we had a possum, skunk, fox, deer, raccoon all within the same frame.”

While several critics pointed out that the photos look staged, a camera crew stayed at Donna’s home one night and were easily able to get photos of a curious fox.

Donna said that she “was so excited to find the abundance of wildlife” when she and her husband moved to Ashburn four years ago.

When she noticed that she received positive reactions from the photos she shared on Facebook, she started sharing more photos on other pages and platforms, such as the Nextdoor app.

Donna was pleased to know that her pictures brought joy to others.

“With so much negativity spreading, it’s great to know some joy can still get through! I will be continuing to share more footage,” she wrote.
