Woman Instantly Adopts Cat’s BFF from Neighbor Who’s Moving Out

• Nick is a very friendly cat, so when he encountered neighbor cat Shakira, he was determined to be her BFF.
• And when their neighbor couldn’t take her when she moves out, Nick’s mom decided to adopt her.
• Nick was ecstatic to have Shakira around all the time now!

Meet Sir Nick Fury. This cat is so outgoing that he seems more like a dog. He loves going on walks, playing fetch, giving high fives, and meeting new people. His mom, worried that he may slip away somewhere and get into trouble, got him a pair of bat wings that can still allow him to wander, but not into places he isn’t supposed to be. It was during one of his ventures outside that he met their neighbor cat and made a new BFF.

Nick first encountered Shakira about two years ago while on a walk with his mom.

She kept her distance, but the friendly Nick was determined to be her BFF.

His mom, Shelby Hyman, soon learned that when Nick wore his bat wings, Shakira became “more curious and far more approachable.” It turns out that she loves them!

The pair soon spent time together almost every day. Nick always looked for Shakira when he was out on a walk, and would call out to her.

“Many times she’d be hiding in the woods or on her patio, and as soon as she’d reveal herself, Nick would trot over to her with his little bat wings flapping and be all chirpy,” Shelby shared. “It was so cute!”

Shakira’s owner also knew about the pair’s friendship, so she trusts Nick’s family to take care of her cat whenever she’s away.

A few weeks ago, she informed Shelby that she had to move due to health issues, and unfortunately could not take Shakira with her.

When she said that she contacted a shelter, Shelby blurted out, “Give her to me.”

“My decision was immediate,” Shelby said. “My son thought I was crazy, but I never second-guessed my decision.”

Shakira has become so beloved by Nick and his family that she just couldn’t allow them to part ways. Since they have always considered her part of the family anyway, they had to make it official.

Shakira has settled in quite well and is happy with her life with Nick and Neo, the family’s other cat.

While she’s still a bit shy and timid, she’s gradually warming up to everyone.

And Nick is just ecstatic that he gets to see her around all the time now!

“It was the best decision ever to adopt her and bring her into our family. She seems really happy not to be alone,” Shelby shared. “I truly feel it was meant to be.”
