- Kristin Erwin was set to rescue one stray dog but ended up with her and her 8 puppies.
- She was not supposed to bring them home but she fostered them for a month.
- The family was handed off to a different foster house where they were vaccinated and found homes.
Kristin Erwin has been assisting with dog rescues in Channelview, Texas. When she heard that there was a wandering stray dog near the dock, she did not hesitate to go and check.
As soon as she got near the docks, the dog began rubbing at her legs and wagging her tail. She was a goner.
But she was in for a surprise when she noticed that even when the dog was thin, its mammary glands were swollen. The dog was feeding puppies! As a rescuer who has deep compassion for stray momma dogs, she had to find the puppies fast as temperatures were dropping down.
In her post on Instagram (@kristin_erwin), she said, “They were stashed at an old, rundown, closed restaurant, right on the porch area. She added, “They were only 3 to 4 weeks old. It was December and temps were going to be dropping soon, and I couldn’t leave them.”
And so, she brought the family to her home to foster. After a month, they were transferred to another foster house where they were vaccinated as soon as they were old enough.
With love and affection, the puppies grew into playful and gentle dogs who found their forever homes with the help of Paddy’s Paws and Misfit Mutts Dog Rescue. Even their Momma Marla got to be adopted!
Erwin is happy that she was there to rescue the family. She said, “They didn’t have to be the next generation of stray dogs.”
