  • Twelve-year-old Nathan Yuill is nearing the end of his own cancer treatment.
  • He raised $2,000 in just 24 hours to help brighten the holidays for other children.
  • Nathan organized and delivered 124 Easter baskets to young patients at two hospitals.

Twelve-year-old Nathan Yuill is nearing his own victory against stage-4 non-Hodgkin lymphoma with only two treatment courses left. Despite his own health battle, he raised $2,000 in just 24 hours to bring joy to other young patients.

With the help of local residents, Nathan organized and distributed 124 colorful, gift-filled Easter baskets to children at Providence Children’s Hospital and the Alaska Native Medical Center.

The donation was so large that hospital meal carts were overflowing with the festive gifts.

“He’s amazing. I wish I had half the strength he does,” said Nathan’s mother, Dena Yuill.

“When the kiddos are here, every day becomes challenging and hard, and you look for the little things that make you be a kid,” remarked Nicki Thurwanger, Clinical Nurse Manager at Providence.

“And so I think that’s what things like this give back is, yes, you’re in the hospital, but you’re a kid, and you get to still be a kid when you’re here.”

Nathan’s selflessness serves as a beautiful reminder that even in our darkest moments, we have the power to light up someone else’s day.
