Quick Smiles:

  • A young boy’s tombstone cleaning business captures national attention.
  • Ben donates part of his profits to a charity supporting grieving families.
  • His venture receives overwhelming support and offers from all over the country.

In a delightful twist of fate, a simple class project in England blossomed into a nationwide sensation, all thanks to a young boy named Ben from Derbyshire.

What began as a modest effort to earn pocket money by washing tombstones quickly turned into a viral phenomenon.

Ben’s entrepreneurial spirit shone through when he decided to extend his services beyond his grandmother’s headstone to his neighbors.

His mother shared the budding business, aptly named “Guardians of the Headstones,” on social media, and it took off like wildfire.

Ben recounted the overwhelming response:

“I found my mom, at half-five or six in the morning, counting all the responses we had,” he said.

“There were almost too many to count, hundreds, maybe thousands. People were offering free haircuts, free sweets from a shop, free photography, lots of amazing things.”

The next day at school, Ben was met with admiration from peers and teachers alike, thanks to the school principal spreading the news.

He felt the warmth of kindness from those around him, realizing,

“It’s just how some people are just so kind and support even some of the weirdest ideas.”

Inspired by the goodwill, Ben pledged to donate 10% of his profits to Stevie Stones, a charity that funds memorials for families who have lost children.

This generous decision brought even more attention and support to the cause, with one individual committing to a monthly donation of $75.

Ben’s story serves as a reminder of the inherent goodness in people and the unexpected ways that kindness can manifest.
