Quick Smiles:

  • Robot vacuum sends unexpected photos of a “guard dog.”
  • French bulldog Sierra fiercely defends her home from the Roomba.
  • Viral TikTok video leaves viewers in stitches.

An automatic vacuum causing laughter and surprise? That’s exactly what happened to TikTok user @katiegkorn, who shared a hilarious video on September 13. Her Roomba, designed to map the home and notify users of any “obstacles,” captured some amusing photos that left viewers speechless.

The family’s French bulldog, Sierra, was the unexpected obstacle. In the photos, Sierra’s wide-open eyes and bared teeth made her look ready for a showdown.

Barking and following the vacuum around, she seemed to think it was an intruder.

Katie shared on TikTok that she “died laughing” when she saw the photos.

It was surprising because Sierra doesn’t attack the Roomba when the family is home.

“I think because she knows it’s naughty, so she waits until we leave!” she explained.

A follow-up video posted yesterday gave another look at the ongoing battle. Unfazed, Sierra bites the Roomba as it moves, while the family’s other dog remains indifferent.

Sierra isn’t alone in her antics. Other pets have been known to interact with robot vacuums in funny ways. One cat trapped a Roomba in a corner, rubbing against it and kicking it back if it tried to leave. Another dog went viral for using the Roomba as a free ride around the house.

The clip of Sierra has garnered nearly 600,000 views and 51,200 likes as of Wednesday. TikTok users couldn’t get enough of the unexpected obstacle, with some comparing Sierra to an angler fish or a Scooby Doo monster.

“Roomba is like, ‘Get this demon dog away from me,’” commented one user.

Another added, “I have never laughed so hard. He was protecting his home from the alien invader for sure.”

The video has inspired others to consider getting a Roomba with a camera, just to see how their pets would react. One comment reads: “Brilliant! Worth getting a Roomba just to see what my dogs do. They bark at and bite the hoover.”
