Quick Smiles:

  • A local Arizona restaurant brought comfort to a family during a heartbreaking farewell.
  • Staff arranged a complimentary meal and heartfelt note for a longtime patron in his final days.
  • The act reassured the family that kindness is alive in the world.

As Al faced his final days, a small gesture from Nando’s Mexican Cafe brought unexpected peace to his family. The staff quickly responded when Al called craving Mexican food, learning he was unable to leave his bed.

“I want Mexican,” he told his wife, hoping for a familiar comfort.

Employee Ava Littau and her coworkers offered to cover his meal and included a handwritten note, letting him know he was in their prayers. This thoughtful surprise touched Al’s wife Roberta Wilsey deeply.

“I was blown away. I started crying,” she shared.

What made it even more meaningful was that this meal became Al’s last. The memory of the restaurant’s kindness now holds a special place in Roberta’s heart.

“It was such a good reminder that there are good people in this world. And I…just couldn’t believe it,” she reflected.

Uplifting acts like these remind us that simple kindness can make a lasting difference. May we all look for opportunities to brighten the lives of others.
