Amarildo Silva Filho is an environmentalist and animal lover. So when he came upon a pile of used tires in his neighborhood, he was inspired to create something for the stray animals.

He collected the tires, thoroughly cleaned them, and cut them up. He then put artistic touches and added hand-sewn mattresses to create personalized pet beds.

They turned out to be comfy and colorful! The beds were then distributed to shelters to be used by shelter animals and strays.

The beds quickly became in demand, as eco-conscious pet owners wanted the recycled works as well.

Amarildo soon launched the business Caminhas Pets to meet the demand. They have since created over 6,000 pet beds!

Amarildo cleans each tire thoroughly, then cuts off the tops. He then covers the bottom hole with plywood and sews in cushions to make up the bed. He then finishes it off with brightly colored paints and stencils for decorations and personalization.

Most of his creations have been given to animals in need. Meanwhile, his business helps fund his charitable efforts.

He said, “The only way to do a great job is to love what you do.”

Amarildo loves what he does, especially since it helps the environment and animals at the same time.
